Starting to think about concept pieces

I spent much of today in the studio, trying to experiment with sketches and making a start to production.  Really, I wanted to not think too deeply here, but to just "play"...  Playing with ideas, mateerials, concepts, patterns, techniques and so on.  I'm concerned that my anxiety to do something well sometimes gets in the way of just 'doing', - this 'doing' is, I'm now beginning to understand, a vital element of using practice as research.
